The Westminster inhaler was manufactured from about 1880. Inhaling through the mouthpiece caused air to be drawn through a vent at the back and the steamy medicated vapour was inhaled by the patient. The photo on blue background is a modern pharmaceutical promotional replica gift item. The original (black background) has a transfer print that extends over the shoulders of the inhaler, whereas the replica has a somewhat simpler version – nevertheless a well made replica.
