Dr Coulter’s combined vaporizer and inhaler known as the Champion Volatilizer pictured here was advertised as being of gigantic importance for all diseases of the throat and lungs. Eucalyptus oil and creosote were recommended to kill the bacilli of tuberculosis while essence of cinnamon was advised for killing the bacilli of typhus. This was a steam driven inhaler made of copper, brass and nickel plate. The advert is from 1892.
