Sir Hiram Maxim, an American, living in London, was an inveterate inventor. Most famous for the Maxim machine gun, he also invented a steam driven flying machine!
Plagued by the effects of the London atmosphere in the early 1900’s he developed and patented his own inhaler. It resembled a glass retort and delivered a combination of menthol and pine essence (dirigo).
Included in the pack is a separate bulbous glass inhaler for nasal delivery of menthol. This was also available separately (see adjacent picture).
