A collection of inhalers and asthma therapies

Sanitas Inhaler

The Sanitas inhaler was made by the Sanitas Co. Ltd of Bethnal Green, London. The Company produced a wide range of pharmacy item including this Nelson-type inhaler. Simple Sanitas inhalers were available as early as the 1890’s, but this type came later into the 1900’s. Like other Nelson-type inhalers it relied on the medication (often menthol, balsam or eucalyptus) being added onto boiling water and the vapour being inhaled through a glass tube fitted through a cork to the neck of the inhaler.
