This is one of the early Siegle’s inhalers supplied by S.Maw & Sons during the 1860’s. It was manufactured by Krohne & Sesemann (surgical instruments makers to the London Hospital) and incorporated a boiler at the suggestion of Dr Adam. Siegle’s patent (1864 no. 1012) described the use of steam driven nebulisation. The principle was strong and designs evolved and copies appeared in many countries. The wooden box bears simple directions for use.
