Burroughs Wellcome’s Paroleine device pictured here was an atomiser for applying medicaments to the nose and throat. The instructions (in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish) describe how it was used. Paroleine was BW’s brand of liquid paraffin (pictured below) used to protect the nasal membranes in cold weather. It could also be medicated with other agents as treatment for asthma, hayfever, tonsillitis and bronchitis.
