This 1864 article, originally published in the New York Express, describes an amazing invention for the delivery of inhaled medicines.  Pressure is created by a hand pump and stored in a pressure vessel then is passed through numerous medicine containing flasks from which the patient may appropriately inhale.  The novel concept of delivering drug to the lungs, for diseases of the lungs, is described in detail.
